Same finish, every part, every time
OB7 cobot deburring automates this highly repetitive task — that no one really wants to do — running consistently hour after hour, without breaks, and without the quality variations that come with manual work. An operator sets up jobs without any programming (all of our cobots are taught by physical demonstration, which anyone can do). After that, all that's needed is to load and unload parts.
How cobot deburring works
At its core, cobot deburring is very straightforward. This short video walks through deburring a typical part.
The deburring cycle
7-axis flexibility
OB7's extra axis provides superior positioning to approach parts at any angle. The seventh joint offers over 360 degrees of rotation, allowing multiple spins across the wheel in a single motion — essential for cylindrical parts, gears, and complex geometries that would be difficult or impossible with a 6-axis arm.

Force-controlled deburring stage
The compliant motor maintains constant pressure (adjustable from 1.5 to 14.9 lbs) as parts contact the media. It automatically adjusts for wheel wear, positioning variations, or imperfections in the taught path. What no human operator can match over an eight-hour shift, OB7 delivers cycle after cycle.

-
Parts weight capacity 4 kg (dependent on gripper)
-
Deburring force adjustable from: 1.5 lb to 14.9 lb
Mounts most common bench top grinder motors
Automatic adjustment as media wears
Any standard deburring media (wheels) can be used
High-mix friendly
Quick changeover between part programs makes cobot deburring practical even for job shops with mixed production.
Teaching a new part: 30 minutes average depending on complexity
Changeover to a saved program: Minutes
Training for operators: Typically a few hours at most
Part weight: Up to 4 kg (8.8 lbs) with standard gripper
Part size: Large enough to grip securely
Best candidates: Parts currently deburred manually at a bench grinder; frequently run parts; consistent geometry; tedious and/or quality-critical deburring

Enclosed deburring advantages

Contain the mess
Metal dust and grinding debris stay inside the cell, not on your equipment, floor, or in the air. Cleaner shop, less housekeeping, better working conditions.

Protect the team
Operators load and unload parts without standing at the grinder breathing dust for hours. The cobot handles the dusty work while your team stays productive elsewhere.

Install easily
Floor space needed is approximately 48” × 48” with standard power. No safety fencing required, and no special foundations or IT infrastructure are needed.
